the old brake controller may have been using an OEM Ford wiring harness so the colors will not match up. You will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the existing wires in order to install the new brake controller.
The Voyager, # 39510, use white for ground, black for 12 volt power, red for input from the brake switch, and blue for output to the trailer brakes.
The 12 volt power and brake input wires are easy to locate with a circuit tester. The 12 volt will have constant power and the input will only show a signal on the tester when you step on the brake pedal.
To find the brake output wire, you can use a separate battery and attach a wire to the positive terminal and then test the 7-Way trailer connector at the back of the truck to determine if power is going back. The wire that sends power back attaches to the brake controller blue wire and the other wire is ground.
The other option for a 1999 Ford Super Duty is to use the vehicle specific wiring harness # 3035-P. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
