Can the Curt C13701 Carry a Dirt Bike on the Back of my Grand Design Imagine Trailer
Question:
I originally asked about C13701 about carrying a dirt bike but I realized I asked about the wrong part I wanted C13703 to mount under my travel trailer and carry a 244 pound dirt bike. The hitch would be mounted on the back of my 29 ft travel trailer. The frame is an I beam. I would be bringing the dirt bike across the country and traveling from locations very often. Any information is helpful and I just want it to be as safe as possible!

The Curt # C13701 hitch has a 500-lb tongue weight rating, so it will be able to handle the weight of your dirt bike without issue as long as the carrier is rated for use on the back of a trailer or RV. Any type of carrier - bike, cargo or motorcycle - that will be used on the back of a motorhome or trailer MUST be made specifically for that application; you cannot use something that was designed to be used on a hitch on a passenger vehicle. These accessories, when used on a trailer or MH, will be subjected to strong vertical and lateral forces that would easily destroy a standard carrier intended for use on a passenger vehicle.
If you don't have a motorcycle carrier that is rated for use on the back of an RV or travel trailer, I recommend using the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033, which comes with a ramp integrated into the carrier. This carrier is rated for use on the back of a motorhome or travel trailer-I've included a photo of it in use on the back of an RV with a heavy scooter that one of our customers sent in that you might find helpful.
This will be the best solution to use with the Curt # C13701 hitch on your 2020 Grand Design trailer to carry your dirt bike.
