Towing Trailer With LED Lamps with 2012 VW Tiguan

Question:

If I have LED lights on my trailer and add this 7 pin to 4 wire adapter to the connector thats pre-wired on my 2012 VW Tiguan from the factory, will the trailer lights also work? Or do I also need to wire in the 119250Kit before anything will work?

Since you already have the 7-way trailer connector, all you will need is the Curt adapter, part # C35FR. This adapter uses an internal load resistor that will prevent the bulb out sensor from triggering. Without the LED adapter, the very low power draw from the LED trailer lamps will make the bulb out sensor think there is a burned out trailer lamp bulb.

Simply plug the adapter into your existing 7-way, and then plug the 4-pole on your trailer into the adapter.

There is no need to install the # 119250KIT.
