We do offer a Roadmaster XL base plate kit for your 2000 Saturn SL, but the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, # 162-3, will not fit your vehicle. This kit is designed to fit 1996 to 1999 model years only. I verified with my contact at Roadmaster that there were a few slight frame and fascia changes from the 1999 year model SL to the 2000 year model SL which is why they had to manufacture a different XL base plate kit for the later model SLs.
We cannot recommend modifying a base plate kit to work with a vehicle that it was not designed for. Any modification to the base plate or installing it in any other way than described in the installation instructions would be unsafe and not recommended.
The XL series base plate kit that will work for your vehicle is part # 162-2. We also carry everything else that you will need to flat tow your Saturn SL. Below I have listed the additional items to complete your flat towing set up.
Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520
Standard Magnetic Tow Lights, # RM-2120
Even Brake Braking System, # RM-9400
Safety Cables, # RM-643
I have also attached a few articles that cover flat towing and its components for you to review.
