The Tow Ready T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness, # 118551, for your 2012 Ford Escape is designed to draw as much power as needed to operate the trailer lights up to 15 amps or 7.5 amps for tail lights and 7.5 amps for stop and turn lights.
The powered converter allows you to tow trailers with more lighting and draws power directly from the vehicle battery when using the trailer lights. The amperage drawn by this converter depends on the amount and type of lights that you have on your trailer.
The amperage rating for this wiring harness is typically more than enough for trailer lights, however, if your trailer has a lot of lights that require more than 15 amps or more than 7.5 amps for tail lights or 7.5 amps for stop and turn lights, then then converter box will short and the fuse will blow on this wiring harness.
