Recommendations for Carrying Bikes with a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica
Question:
I have a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica, with factory crossbar. I am looking at the Rockymounts Brass Knucklesroof rack for bikes, code #RKY1201. Can you tell me: a Will it fit my factory crossbar? b What protects the cross bar from scratching by the rack mount? c Based on the video, it appears there is not a way to lock this? is that correct? d If there is a way to lock it, what part number will do that? Ill go look at it if so.

I checked with our suppliers and the roof rack side rails and cross bars on the 2007 Chrysler Pacifica are not strong enough for any accessories other than snow board and snow ski mounts. They do not recommend using any other roof mounted accessories like a bike rack on your vehicle. this means that you will need to select some other means for carrying bikes with your Pacifica.
My first recommendation for you would be to use a hitch mounted bike rack and trailer hitch to carry bikes on your Pacifica. The Draw-Tite Hitch, # 75522, along with the Thule Hitching Post Pro, # TH934XTR, would be an excellent combination. I added video links and instructions links for these items for you to review.
If you do not want to install a trailer hitch, a trunk mounted bike rack is also acceptable for your vehicle. I would recommend installing the Thule OutWay Bike Carrier, # TH45JV, because it is the easiest to install and remove of all of the trunk mount racks the we carry. Only 2 bike truck mount racks are recommended for your Pacifica, because the weight of additional bikes combined with the extra distance from the rear of the vehicle would damage the rear hatch. This rack used the OneKey system to lock the rack and the bikes. The locks are included on this one but must be purchased extra other racks.
It is recommended that you clean and wax your vehicle before installing to lower the chance of scratching the paint. Then clean frequently.
