Swagman Bike Rack for 2011 Chevrolet Equinox
Question:
Looking to purchase the above item for a 2011 Equinox. Prefer this particular unit as it has a 2inch receiver without a sleeve. Question I have is the receiver shaft long enough to allow room for two bicycles mounted to an Equinox? Could not find any pictures with the unit mounted to a car except one. In that picture, it appears there is not enough room for a bicycle on the wheel racks closest to the car. Optical illusion? Thank you for your time.

We haven't test fitted the Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack # S64663 on a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox yet, however with a hitch mounted to your Equinox it should have about 5" from the hitch pin hole to the outer edge of the bumper. The Swagman Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack # S64663 has 8" from the pin hole to the first wheel hoop (closest to the car) so it will have about 3" of clearance. This doesn't account for the bike itself, and the handle bars or pedals, but it sounds like it will be very close.
Another option for a 2 bike rack is the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style # S64650. We have test fit this and there is plenty of room for 2 bikes on the back of your Equinox. This shares the same overall design, a 2 bike platform rack but has an additional 2 1/2" on the shank to give more clearance. Also it has a 4" rise built into the shank so ground clearance won't be an issue. It is designed for both 1 1/4" and 2" hitches and uses a sleeve. I realize that you said you prefer a bike rack without an adapter sleeve, however the sleeve is full aluminum and doesn't effect how the rack fits or performs.
Each bike rack has an anti-rattle bolt to take the slack and play out of the reciever tube, but to make sure your bikes and rack are secure I recommend the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks # S64031.
I've linked the parts above, and included a few videos for you to check out as reference.
