Question:
Do I need any other wiring/adapter kits to install this item on a 2011 Siverado 1/2 ton with NO tow package?

Even without a factory tow package, the wiring to install a 7-Way is still present on your 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. The 7-Way connector, # PK11916, fits in the factory location on the bumper and the harness that plugs into the back of it is located behind the dummy cover like in the video I have linked.
I you are going to install a brake controller, you will need to follow the FAQ article that I have linked that explains the location and functions of the tow package wiring under the dash and the connections that need to be made under the hood to make everything fully functional.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P2, # 90885 because it is easy to set up and easy to use. I have included a link to the installation details for the brake controller as well.
