I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2017 Chevy Colorado and it looks like you can safely tow your vehicle by putting the rear wheels on a tow dolly. I do recommend verifying this in your copy of the owner's manual under the "Recreational Towing" section as well.
If you don't already have a tow dolly then we can help you out with that here at etrailer. If you only plan on towing every once in a while (like once or twice a year) then a cost-effective option is the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes # RM-2050-1. Please note that this option comes with bare wires for the lighting/brakes so you'll need to add a 6-Way # PK11604 or 7-Way # PK12706 as well.
If you plan on towing your Colorado more frequently than a few times a year then I highly recommend going with a nicer tow dolly. The Demco Kar Kaddy SS # DM9713045 is currently the best on the market because it comes with everything you need, and it has foldable ramps and tongue so that you can easily store it at an RV park or in your garage. Since this is a feature that most other tow dollies don't have it really makes your life easier once you're out and about.
It's also worth noting that even though both tow dollies come with lights, you may consider adding a removable lighting kit as well to increase visibility. I have attached a link to our selection of removable lights ,but a great option is the Demco Wireless LED Light Bar for Towed Vehicles # DM36MV because of how easy it is to install and use.
I have attached some review videos for you to check out.
