There are several components you will need to flat tow your 2005 Dodge Caravan. But before we get into that you should check the owners manual of your vehicle to determine if there are any restrictions on your vehicle being flat-towed. My research indicates that some modification would need to be made to the driveline in order to tow the vehicle without damaging it.
Now for the parts needed to flat tow your vehicle. You will need the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 275-1, for your 2005 Dodge Caravan. This base plate kit will install on your vehicle and allow you to connect to a tow bar.
To be able to connect these Roadmaster base plates to your Reese Tow Champ 74950 tow bar you will also need to use the Roadmaster Base Plate to Reese Tow Bar Adapter, part # RM-025. Next, you will need a set of quick disconnects # RM-201. These are required with the # RM-025.
In addition to the tow bar and the base plates, you will also need safety cables, lighting, and a supplemental braking system for the Caravan.
For safety cables, I recommend the coiled cables, part # RM-643. The coiled design helps to keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting, there are several options depending on your specific needs and how often you will towing the vehicle. I have included a link to an FAQ article that covers the various options so you can determine what would work best for you.
Most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to set up and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake, part # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the towing vehicle is braking. This reduces wear and tear on both vehicles and is the safest way to stop.
I have included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing for you.
