Orientation of Pivot Arms to Install B&W BWRVK3300 Companion 5th Wheel Hitch-2020 Ford F250

Question:

I am interested in the B&W Companion fifth wheel hitch for my 2020 Ford F250 with the factory 5th wheel prep package. My truck is a short bed, but because the corners of my 5th wheel are scalloped in, I won't need a sliding hitch. How do I install the arms that hold the hitch head unit to the base?

Having the scooped corners on your fifth wheel is a neat feature that will eliminate the need for a slider and save you some dollars on the hitch purchase. The 20K capacity # BWRVK3300 B&W Companion you'd looked at would work well for you. As listed in the installation instructions, the hitch head can be installed so that it sits either 3 inches forward or 1 inch forward of the rear truck axle centerline. You'll want to install the arms in the rearward orientation as shown in the diagram I've provided at the desired height so your 5th wheel tows as level as possible.

If you don't already have a 7-way installed in the truck bed, you can do so using part # 20110-010.

I've linked installation videos for you to look over.
