Best Way to Charge Auxiliary Lithium Ion Battery on 2019 Ram ProMaster

Question:

John - my auxillary battery bank will most likely not be greater than 200Ah - is the battery charger and fuse kit the same, or does the 200Ah max make a difference?

The best way to charge your auxiliary LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery from the main battery of your 2019 Ram ProMaster is with the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1240D.

This was designed for larger batteries and it has a built-in smart charging system that reads what kind of battery is being charged and then it adjusts the amount of power output so that the battery isn't damaged and that it gets the most efficient charge possible. Redarc recommends using the 60-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit # 331-FK60 for this install because these work better than regular fuses for the high-power application.

The best part about the BCDC is that you not only get the best charge possible, but you are also able to add more accessories to give you a lot of advantages in how you use this product. There are provisions for adding in solar panels, you can add the Smart Start Load Disconnect # 331-SBI12-LLD to further protect your battery, plus you have the option to add the Monitoring Gauge # 331-G52-VVA so you can see what is going on with your battery voltage on the spot.

I have attached some videos and installation instructions for you to check out.

There is a smaller BCDC unit part # 331-BCDC1225D which has a lower range of 75 amp-hours - 200 amp-hours, but when Redarc came here for training they said that for bigger batteries like your LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery, the 40 Amp BCDC # 331-BCDC1240D is the better way to go and that it won't damage the battery.
