Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2020 Dodge Durango
Question:
Good morning. I need to equip my 2020 Dodge Durango with a hitch and wiring for towing a light trailer. It does not have a factory towing package. Would you mind recommending the parts I would need for this? Thank you.

Absolutely!
Starting with the trailer hitch for your 2020 Dodge Durango, I highly recommend the Curt Class III # C13182 because it features a superior black powder coat finish that holds up better over time than those from other manufacturers (for longer rust resistance) and sits just a bit further behind the rear bumper than the alternatives for a more hidden/cleaner appearance. This hitch will provide you with a 2" receiver opening and features a 6,000 pound towing weight capacity.
I have attached an image of this hitch mounted on the 2019 Durango so you can see exactly how it will look on your vehicle, along with a full installation video that you can follow along with.
Then for trailer wiring the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118617 will work perfectly. This custom harness will plug into ports behind the tail lights in your Durango and receive power by running a hot lead up to the battery. This will give you the needed 4-Way connector at the bumper to power your trailer's basic signal lights.
I have again attached an installation video that you can use for reference.
Lastly, in order to tow a trailer you will need a ball mount and hitch ball. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the best one for your setup, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
