Weight Distribution for Towing a Casita Trailer with a 2012 4WD Honda Pilot
Question:
Would a Reese 66151 hitch fit on my 17 ft. Casita Travel Trailers tongue and be a good hitch to use when being towed by a 2012 4WD Honda Pilot? Towing wt. of trailer is around 3000 lb. and tongue wt. is from 350 to 450 lb.

When calculating tongue weight you also have to add the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle. If that happens to be 450 pounds then a 400 to 600 pound system, like # RP66558, would be a great choice.
The brackets that mount to the trailer frame fit on frame rails no wider than 2-1/2 inches wide and no more than 6 inches tall. The hangers for the spring bars will need to mount 20 to 27 inches back from the hitch ball center. If you look over your trailer and it fits this criteria then this would be a great system for you.
You would just need to add a properly sized ball to fit your trailer coupler. Use # A-90 for a 2 inch or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch. I have included a link to our FAQ on weight distribution for you and a link to the installation instructions for the Reese SC system.
