Mounting a Furrion Vision S Camera on a 2020 Leisure Travel Van RV

Question:

Application: 2020 Leisure Travel Van RV on 2019 Mercedes 3500 Sprinter Chassis. Our RV has a great backup camera, but Mercedes allows it to be powered only in reverse. The camera is tied into their 10 inch MBUX display and neither Mercedes nor LTV recommends tapping into the existing camera. My goal is a rear observation camera functional at all times to observe what Im towing, along with approaching traffic. Q1: is the Shark Fin to be mounted only in the vertical wall position? Q2: what is the vertical adjustment angle? that is, how much can the camera in the shark fin housing be adjusted to look more horizontal? Q3: Is there is a bracket to mount the SF on the roof? I have the ability/tools to build steel bracket. If I built, the bracket would shield the SF camera from the center running light. In the enclosed pictures I do have vertical wall but it is lower than Id like to mount. It would be tight to install the SF between the mercedes back up camera and the running lights. So Im thinking roof mount but open to your suggestions. Q4: I saw on the internet that Furrion FASO7TASR will rotate to 90 degrees, but I cant find that camera is still available. I look forward to your response and guidance. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for all of the details! I will address your questions back to you in the same order.

Q1 - The shark fin camera that comes with the Furrion Vision S Camera System # FOS05TASF can be mounted in whatever orientation you'd like. Generally, it is mounted on the wall, but if you wanted to install if on the roof that is acceptable too. If you check out the attached installation video on a 2005 Ford Van, you can see that we used a different orientation than like on a wall.

Q2 - I'm not sure what the exact adjustment angle is for the camera but if you jump to the 4:04 minute mark on that same install video of a discontinued version of this system, you can see the range of adjustment for the camera. The camera is the same on this system as the current # FOS05TASF If you were to install it on top of your 2020 Leisure Travel Van RV I doubt you'd be able to see directly at your bumper, but it should adjust enough to comfortably see a trailer or traffic that is behind you.

Q3 - If you are able to install the camera on a flat surface then you can use the provided bracket. Otherwise if it's more of a curved surface you may need to built something custom. Unfortunately this is something you'll have to experiment with on your own as this camera was designed to be mounted on the back "wall" area.

Q4 - I tried looking up the part FASO7TASR that you referenced but I was unfortunately not able to find anything. You might have to play around with the shark fin camera angles a little bit but I'm confident that you will be able to achieve the angle that you are wanting to get.

This whole camera system is also available with side marker lights as kit # FCE48TASL-05 as well as with the side marker lights and a replacement 3rd brake light as kit # FR98NR. This means that you can see on the sides of your RV and possibly put a 4th camera above your entry door or any place else you think would be helpful if you go with the 4-camera kit.
