Will my brake Controller Settings be the Same When I add an Aftermarket Controller?
Question:
Will I see the same trailer brake settings as the oem unit? After replacing the factory controller

They will be very similar. When adding an aftermarket controller like my favorite the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - Proportional part # 90195 you will make the gain adjustments in a similar way and you will be able to set the boost depending on your trailers type so you will be selecting through like you did from the factory (trailer type) setting.
After you install it set it where you had your factory controller and test it. If you don't quite remember what those are we use this as a guide...for an empty trailer usually boost off and 3 gain setting is a good place to start and go up or down from there. A very heavy trailer then boost level 2 or 3 and start at around 7 gain and go up and down from there to your liking. I've included the video I did on the P3 which will explain to you in better detail.
You'll simply need the brake controller like part # 90195 or another you pick and the plug you looked at part # 3031-p if your using a Tekonsha brake controller or part # C51455 if your going with a Curt controller. Happy hauling!
