Comparing Curt A25 and B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch for 2019 Ram 3500 with Factory Pucks

Question:

Oooookay. So I'm trying to decide on the best hitch for my 2019 ram 3500 long bed with factory pucks. I'm stuck between the B&W Companion and Curt A25. Both look great. Please help. Or I'm going to be sitting here staring at my computer for another 3 years. Thanks....

I completely understand your feelings right now, as both the Curt A25 # C16046 and B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 for your 2019 Ram 3500 are excellent 5th wheel hitches, and it's hard to pick out any negatives on either. With that being said, I do recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 for a few different reasons.

The first is the jaw design/construction on the two hitches. Both options use an upgraded 2-jaw system that's designed to completely wrap around the trailer king pin for a really secure connection, however the Companion takes this a bit further with its 1" thick construction. This not only adds to the security of its attachment point but also helps to create an extremely smooth, quiet ride during travel.

The Companion also features a unique cam-action handle, which is well known for allowing for easy release, even on unlevel ground. If you have ever dealt with a different hitch in the past where you struggled with a binding handle, you know how frustrating this experience can be.

In addition to this, the Companion also has a higher possible height setting (up to 19" compared to 18" on the Curt A25). This might seem like a surface "upgrade" but I can tell you that as trucks get taller and taller with each passing model year, it's getting harder and harder to keep everything level between the truck and trailer. This higher setting will allow for a level setup while also increasing clearance between the trailer overhand and bed rails.

Finally, the Companion features a higher 25,000 pound towing weight capacity compared to 24,000 pounds on the A25, and it also just has a better mounting design with its 4 posts and handles for an easier, quicker mounting process.

I have attached a great video review on the Companion below that you can check out as well.
