Hitch Recommendation for 2019 VW Passat With Easiest Install Process
Question:
I have a 2019 Volkswagen Passat Wolfsburg and want to put a hitch on it. I really just want something solid, but not a pain to install since I'm going to do it myself. Which one do you suggest? I might pull a small 4x8 trailer with it once in a while, but mainly I'm using it to take my bike rack.

If it were my Passat, I would go with the EcoHitch # 306-X7317 because of the options it gives for accessories. The install is more involved than others, but I think this is the best choice. You'll only install the hitch once, but you will use it for much longer and will find the extra effort is well worth it.
There are 3 different hitches that are confirmed to fit your 2019 VW Passat Wolfsburg edition, Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch # 24880, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11234, and EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7317. The Draw-Tite and Curt are going to have the same weight ratings of 200 LBS TW, and 2,000 Lbs GTW. The EcoHitch has a 300 LB TW and 2,000 LB GTW.
The EcoHitch is the most versatile because it has a 2" reciever tube opening, while the others have an 1 1/4". The 2" has the most variety of options for accessories like bike racks, cargo carries, and ball mounts. However it is the most involved installation as well. The rear fascia will need to be removed and there is some trimming required. It installs behind the bumper and sits slightly higher than the other 2.
The Curt and Draw-tite hitches are less involved for the install and do not require the fascia to be removed, but both still require trimming. They mount under the Passat, but the cross tube is still hidden for a nice look.
Since you said you're going to be towing a small trailer you'll need trailer wiring. For your Passat I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C79KR.
