Is 7-Way and 4-Way Connector for Hopkins # HM54FR Designed to Fit in Bed of 2020 Sierra 2500

Question:

I have a 2020 GMC 2500, and didnt get the GM trailering provisions package, but have a spot in my bed for this type of setup . Is this part made to install into the bed or only underneath the bumper? The profile/shape matches the blank plug that is in my bed, so figure it does but wanted to ask.

The Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Wiring Harness # HM54FR that you referenced is designed for exactly what you described. This is going to plug in-line with the factory 7-Way at the bumper of your Sierra 2500 to provide you with a separate 7-Way and 4-Way connector inside the bed for easy 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer hookup.

The space you mentioned inside the bed rails is exactly where the oval shaped connector and bracket would be mounted.

Please just note that the harness included in this kit does also have a standard 7-Way round connector already plugged in. This connector will simply be disconnected and replaced with the (also included) 7-Way and 4-Way connector that matches the cutout contours you mentioned in the bed. The other 7-Way connector can just be stored away and saved for future use if ever needed.
