Pre-2006 Kwikee Step Control Unit Replacement

Question:

Why can I not buy just the controller for this step? Everything on the stepe is in great working condition just the controller is bad. The step is a pre 2006 step, what is the difference between the pre and post 2006 steps controllers?

You actually can replace the control unit on your pre-2006 Kwikee steps with the Lippert Components (LCI) Kwikee pre-IMGL/9510 Step Control with 5323 and 5327 Switches for Motorized Motorhome Entry Steps # LC379606, which is designed for use with the motors used in the Kwikee steps before they introduced the IMGL motors in 2006.This control unit works on steps manufactured between 1999-2005 that have the 5323 and 5327 switches.

The controllers are different between the models because of the motor switch that Kwikee went through, so the different controllers are designed to operate different motors.
