2020 GMC Sierra 3500 Fifth Wheel for Factory Prep Package with Over 20K Capacity

Question:

I need a fifth wheel for my new truck a 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 with 8 foot bed. I got the factory under bed rail system because I didn't want rails in my bed, the curt and B&W have more than 20K capacity, what's the main difference and which one should I get?

For your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500 the Curt A30 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # C16070 and the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3715 are both designed to fit directly in the factory puck system. So when you do want to tow, it's only a matter of minutes to put the hitch in and lock it down, and when you aren't towing the hitch can be removed and you can utilize the entire bed. No rails getting in the way. Both are rated over 20K lbs.

Curt Gross towing weight: 30,000 lbs and Vertical load limit: 7,500 lbs

B&W Gross towing weight: 25,000 lbs and Vertical load limit: 6,250 lbs

Between the 2 choices I would recommend the B&W, for a few different reasons.

Both hitches are have a wrap around jaw system that help secure the king pin, makes it easier to hookup, and provide a much quieter ride compared to a slide bar style jaw. The B&W uses a 1" thick wrap around jaw and I think they do a better job of keeping any slack and play out of the connection point which definitely helps with chucking and noise.

The B&W also has a really nice latch handle. That may seem like a small thing, but once you go to the campsite and the trailer is on uneven ground and you try to unhook, you'll greatly appreciate the non-binding handle. It uses a cam action handle to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch so you won't have to fight when your trying to unhook.

I have installed numerous fifth wheels in a variety of different trucks and I like B&W better than any other. They always go in smoothly, and they look really nice. The gray powder coat is thick, really helps with scratches and rust and should stay looking good for a long time. B&W is arguably one of the best fifth wheel on the market, and there's no reason it shouldn't be the last fifth wheel you get. Not to mention they're made right here in the USA.
