Can the Draw-Tite Wiring Harness # 118258 be Installed Outside of a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

With the trailer wires outside the vehicle can the harnes you sell just be plugged to the out side plugs and protect the box from the elements outside? Knowing the wires entending outside the vehicle are working properly. I see the only advantage is protecting the box inside the car. Am I not correct? Please advise.

You are correct, the purpose of pulling the wires into the vehicle is to protect the converter box from the outside elements, but also to protect the T-connection points between the wiring harness and the vehicle connectors and to protect the in-line fuse on the wiring harness.

I would recommend against leaving the entire wiring harness outside of the vehicle because of the many different parts that need to be protected from the outside elements and if any moisture enters the converter box, T-connection or fuse, the wiring harness could short out.
