Mounting Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack to Roof of Aluminum Camper

Question:

I was just wondering if the sheet metal looking screws included can be used for mounting to an aluminum camper? i know the thru bolts with nuts would probably be the strongest but its real hard for me to have access the underside cause the way the roof is built. if the metal screws can be used that would definitely be easiest. the aluminum is pretty thick id be drilling into. Thanks

According to the installation instructions which I've linked, the included lag bolts will work as long as there is a piece of structure under the location where you've drilled the hole. Otherwise, they recommend using the provided 6mm x 80mm carriage bolts, a metal plate, washer and nut to secure the towers. If the towers are only secured to the skin of the roof, the attachment might not be strong enough and could tear out of the roof.

In order for the rack to work, the roof will need to be flat and not arched from side to side.
