Will Switching to LED Bulbs on Ford F-150 and Installing Load Resistors Affect Trailer Lights
Question:
Hi: Im thinking of replacing the standard 3157 brake/stop/turn bulbs on my 2011 Ford F150 one is burned out with the new LED lamps that require the 6 Ohm 50 Watt ballast resistors. I often tow an 18foot tandem axel equipment flatbed that has NOT been converted to LED lamps. What effect will the ballast resistor make on the operation of the flat bed brake/stop/turn lamps?

Replacing the 3157 signal light bulbs on your 2011 Ford F-150 with LED equivalents like the Putco # P213157A, along with the needed load resistors # DI34ZR to prevent hyper-flashing, won't have any effect on the signal lights for your flatbed trailer. The same amount of power will still get sent back to the trailer when activating the lights in the truck.
I have also attached a link below that will take you to our selection of 3157 LED equivalents that you can look through if needed.
