Recommended Trailer Towing Setup For 2020 BMW X5

I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76288 for the 2020 BMW X5 to tow a small trailer. The Draw-Tite hitch is a concealed cross tube so the only part of the hitch that's visible once installed is the receiver tube for a nice clean OEM look.

For the wiring, I recommend ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit part # 119250KIT which will give you a 4-pole flat at the rear of the BMW to illuminate the trailer lights. There is a not a true plug and play option for the BMW but this is the next best option because the wiring clamps around the vehicle's wiring instead of splicing in. I have attached an installation video for your reference.

For the ball mount I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 which has two different ball diameters 1-7/8" and 2" if you tow different trailers. I do recommend to make sure you do not need additional rise or drop. I have attached a helpful article to figure out how much rise or drop you may need to tow level.
