Recommended Parts to Tow 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Behind Motorhome

Question:

I want to flat tow my 2020 Wrangler Unlimited JL behind a motorhome. I plan on keeping the Jeep for awhile and don't want to keep replacing things. I don't mind spending a little more money for stuff that lasts. What do you recommend?

To tow your Wrangler Unlimited JL behind a motorhome, you'll need a tow bar, base plates, a wiring harness, a supplemental braking system, safety cables and possibly a high/low adapter.

For a tow bar, I really like the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain # RM-522. The Falcon all terrain tow bar is self aligning and self centering, which means that you won't need to get the vehicle perfectly aligned with the motorhome in order to hook up. Attach the arms to the base plate and drive off, the arms will automatically lock into place.

For base plates, with the stock plastic or steel bumper, I'd recommend the # RM-521453-5. For an off-road bumper with the 1 inch D-rings, you'll just need the # RM-035-1 adapter or # RM-035 for the 3/4 inch D-ring.

To provide wiring, I like the # RM-15267 diode kit. Once installed, you simply plug in the umbilical and you're done and ready to go.

Since you plan on keeping the Jeep for awhile, I'd recommend a permanently mounted system like the Roadmaster # RM-8700. Once installed, the braking system is set and ready to go, you wouldn't need to install it before every trip like you would with the portable braking systems. A # RM-751490 stoplight switch would also be needed.

When the # RM-521435-5 base plate was installed on a Wrangler Unllimited with factory ride height and stock tires, the base plate height is 16.25 inches. For safety, the tow bar will need to be within 3 inches of level, if it isn't you'll need the correct high/low adapter to place it within that range. I'll link you to our selection of high/low adapters. I've also linked to some install videos that you might find helpful.
