Question:

I have a Pro Series 15 with a slide bar and would like to replace it with a 16k claw head. I have a chevrolet 2500 truck. Can this be done?

It sounds like you're looking to upgrade from a slide bar jaw like the one on your Pro Series # PS30099 to a dual jaw hitch for your 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 with the 6-1/2 foot bed. You can do this without any issue, but you're likely going to need a sliding hitch to compensate for the short bed of your truck, if you don't have a Sidewinder style rotating pin box already installed on your 5th wheel.

I recommend the Curt A16 # C16521, which has an interlocking 2-jaw system that provides 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. On top of the easier operation and more secure connection you'll get with a dual jaw system, the A16 has a fully articulating torsion head for controlled coupling and a more stable, quiet ride.

This Curt 5th wheel hitch will mount in the industry standard base rails that you used on your Pro Series 5th wheel hitch, so there won't be a need to replace them unless they're damaged. If you do end up needing replacement rails, you can use the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC # C16411-204.

I've linked one of our review and installation videos for the Curt A16 on a similar Chevy Silverado that you may want to have a look at, as well.
