Troubleshooting Coupler that is Difficult to Latch onto Hitch Ball
Question:
The trailer 2 years old. It done it seance I got it. latch is hard to close on hitch ball.

Expert Reply:
The latching mechanisms of couplers can pretty easily get corroded or dirty to the point they become difficult to operate. Best bet is to spray down the mechanism liberally with a spray lube like WD40 and see if that frees up the latch to allow it to install easier. A lot of couplers have adjustable latches as well. If you look under the coupler and see a nut maybe try loosening it a bit so that it could come down and latch onto the ball a bit easier.
In the picture I attached of the # CT-3001-Z you can see nut I am referring to.
We do also have hitch ball grease part # 58117 that will help keep the ball and coupler free of corrosion.
