What Happens if You Dont Replace Trailer Leaf Springs in Pairs

Question:

I have an 2018 RC enclosed 8.5x16 tandem axle car hauler 3500# rating per axle that I use to haul around tools and materials for work carpentry. I purchased the trailer in March of 2018. The trailer would tow perfectly behind my gmc sierra 2500. About a month ago the trailer would start swaying pretty bad at highway speeds with no change to the load of the trailer or tow vehicle. The culprit was a broken leaf spring on the rear axle, passenger side, or so I assumed. Replaced the leaf spring with one of the same length and weight rating as the originial, and the trailer still sways, only at highway speeds. Could this be because I only replaced the one leaf spring and not the other on the driver side of the same axle? The original spring definitely appeared to be stretched out some compared to the new. Any help you could provide would be awesome.

When replacing trailer leaf springs you do have to replace them in pairs otherwise you'll have ride issues like what you described. I wasn't able to find you in our system so I don't know what spring you have now that you need to match but we have the 3,500 lb axle springs part # e54SR which is 25-1/8 inches, # SP-210275 is 27 inches, and # e59SR which is 23-1/8 inches.
