Everything Needed for a 2019 Kia Sorento to Tow Utility Trailer

Question:

One question i have is, do I not need to first see if my Kia has the factory wiring? Would I have had to have bought the tow package for that, or is the tow package from Kia basically hooking up that wiring to a hitch? If there is an easy way to check that could you let me know?

We have everything you'll need to tow with your 2019 Kia Sorento. What we offer will also cost much less than going with components from Kia as well.

Let's start with a hitch for towing the Karavan utility trailer you have. For that we have the very concealed EcoHitch aprt # 306-X7320 which looks the best since it's mostly hidden and has the best ground clearance, but it does cost the most. So for a better priced option that you'll find is a bit more visible but will still do the job great you'd want the etrailer.com hitch part # e98843. I attached install videos for both of these for you to check out as well.

For trailer wiring then you'd want the part # C56332 which installs very easily and is also very reliable.

A brake controller would be recommended for your setup as well since any time the trailer you plan to tow will end up weighing more than half of the weight of the tow vehicle you will want to use a brake controller.

So the easiest to install brake controller that also works really well is the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180. Basically, this just plugs into an active 7-way and once you sync it to your phone it's ready to go. This brake controller is proportional which means it senses the amount of deceleration your tow vehicle is applying and applies the trailer brakes in a relative way.

To convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller only requires the 7-way adapter kit part # ETBC7L. The 4-way of this plugs into the 4-way of your vehicle and once you run the included wiring and breaker up to the vehicle's positive battery post it's active enough to allow the Echo to function. This saves you from having to hardwire in a brake controller which requires tapping into the brake signal of your vehicle and running a few other wires too.

Everything mentioned is very easy to install for someone like you who has decent mechanical skills. You'd have no problem at all, but definitely check out the install video links on this page to see what the entire process looks like.

You can check if you like. But our understanding is that your vehicle does have the needed wiring.
