Wiring a 7-Way to a Trailer with a 6-Way that Uses Non Standard Colors

Question:

I have a 2001 Featherlite Gooseneck Cattle Trailer. The 6-way plug became loose to where i need to replace it. I was told to purchase the new 7 way plug. Problem is, my color of wires does not match any color codes that i was give.. My wires are Black, Green, Yellow, Red, White, and Brown.. I have not seen one diagram with those colors yet... Could you help me?

Unfortunately not all trailer manufacturers will use a standard wiring color code but we still can help you determine what to do with the wires of your trailer. First we need to identify what all of the functions of your wires are. To do this you'll need to use a jumper wire from a vehicle battery to all of the wires to watch what circuit illuminates on the trailer and then wire them to the new 7-way using the diagram I attached. The brake circuit won't illuminate anything but you should hear them click and then hum. The ground circuit might spark so be aware of that. Most likely that circuit is the white wire though.
