How to Keep Head of Demco Hijacker Autoslide Hitch Lubricated for Smooth Operation

Question:

I own the Hijacker auto slide 25,000 lbs, I cannot get the cross locking bar to move-thus seized to 5th wheel pin, I pulled the upper tilting bar to get my truck out from under the trailer. Can you advise what I need to do to release bar and the get it set up to work properly?

If this is a new hitch Demco states that the first few times you use a Hijacker like the part # DM8550034 some of the moving mechanisms might need a few uses to "wear in" and move easier. If the hitch is older and is now starting to get difficult it most likely needs to be lubricated to work properly.

I attached a picture that has all of the grease points and lubrication instructions listed to show how to keep the head working as smoothly as possible. I would try lubricating everything you can now if the latch is still stuck and see if that helps release it after letting the grease soak. Sometimes it helps to use the trailer's jacks to release some of the tension on the hitch to get it to release the latches. So slightly jack the trailer up with it connected and see if that releases any binding to allow the lever to release.
