Can the Roadmaster to Blue Ox and Demco Tow Bar Adapter Mount to Flat Bumper on a 2006 Jeep Wrangler

Can I bolt the RM-033 directly to the face of the flat bumper on my 06 jeep wrangler to use my Blue Ox towbar. Who makes this and what are the dimensions. Thanks.

The Roadmaster Base Plate to Blue Ox and Demco Tow Bars Adapter, # RM-033, that you referenced must be attached to base plates. The bumper on your 2006 Jeep Wrangler is not rated for towing.

I pulled the adapter from my warehouse and found that this adapter measures 33 inches wide x 2 inches tall.

For your Jeep you can use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1120, without having to use an adapter for your Blue Ox tow bar. I verified with Blue Ox that these base plates will fit your Jeep with the flat bumper. These base plates will work with the Blue Ox Adventurer, Avail, Aladdin, Alpha and Allure tow bars.

A few other items that you will need to flat tow your Jeep being a motor home are a tow bar, safety cables, light kit and, in some states, a supplemental braking system.

With this adapter you will have a wide range of tow bars that you can use. I would recommend the Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar, # BX7420, if you do not have one because it includes the safety cables. You can also purchase safety cables separately with part # BX88197.

You also have a few different options for lighting and wiring kits that you can use on your vehicle. I would recommend the Tow Ready # TR118821. Most states require a supplemental braking system on a vehicle being towed behind a motor home. The Blue Ox Patriot, # BLU37TR, is one of our easiest braking systems to install and use. This is a proportional braking system that applies the same amount of pressure on the towed vehicles brakes that you apply to the brakes in your motor home. This unit also comes with a wireless controller that allows you to adjust the sensitivity and manually override the brakes if needed. If you use the Tow Ready wiring I mentioned you also need a relay, # RM-88400, to prevent the TJ's lights from overriding the motorhome's.

Be sure you check your owners manual for restrictions and limitations when flat towing your vehicle. If your Jeep is a 2WD automatic, then you will need a lube pump.
