Is Weight Capacity of Rhino-Rack Crossbars for Retrax XR Tonneau Cover Per Bar or Total

Question:

I see the max load capacity states 220 lbs...is that per crossbar or total for 2 crossbars. In other words does each individual crossbar have a capacity of 220 lbs or 110 lbs per crossbar. Would it be possible to evenly distribute the load of 440 lbs across 2 crossbars? Thanks!

Good question, and the answer is that the weight capacity is the total capacity. So the capacity of the Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System for Retrax XR Series and Mountain Top EVO-M Tonneau Covers # RRVA180B-RRRLT600 is 220 lbs maximum across both bars (think of it as 110 lbs per bar).

These are 71 inch bars and there are also 65 inch bars with the same capacity, which are part # RRVA165B-RRRLT600.

just to be sure- will the rhino rack installed on a retrax xr system be able to support a roof top tent when deployed - tent- 130lbs plus 2 people 400lbs . if not could another set be installed along with the first set to increase capacity
