7-Way/4-Way Trailer Wiring Connector for 2011 Honda Pilot

Question:

Hi Jameson, You recommended the C56366 & 30955 combination for my 2011 Honda Pilot. My advance auto parts store is saying that I just need the Curt 55774 ( much cheaper way to go ). Is this correct ? If so, do you supply this part ?

I have a way to install a 4-way and 7-way on your 2011 Honda Pilot but you'll need to first start with the 7-way kit part # 118253 which you mentioned. This gives you a standard 7-way wiring but then you'd need to replace the 7-way socket with a Hopkins part # 30955 and you have the combined 4-way and 7-way you are looking for.

As long as you also install a brake controller, part # 118253 will allow you to control all of the trailer lights along with the trailer brakes. It comes with all of the wiring needed but the missing component is a brake controller which is what actually applies the trailer brakes. If you don't already have a brake controller, the easiest option I recommend is the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 which basically just plugs into an active 7-way (what the # 118253 provides) and once synced to a smart phone is active and ready to activate trailer brakes. Unless you're planning on towing a trailer that is only equipped with a 4-pole flat trailer connector and has no trailer brakes, part # 118253 will work perfectly well for you. I attached a review video for this controller for you to check out as well.

We do have the # C55774 which could work for you but you'd have to check to see if you have a round trailer wiring connector present behind the bumper of the Pilot. Our experience has been that's not the case but you may as well check since it is a really simple solution!
