Should I Choose a Hitch with a 1-1/4 or 2 Receiver for my 2009 Honda CR-V
Question:
What hitch size is generally recommended for the Kuat Transfer 2? I realize that its compatible with both, but am wondering which hitch size I should have installed on my car currently no hitch installed. Will the rack be most stable with the 1.25 inch or 2inch hitch, with two bikes loaded? This is for a 2009 Honda CRV.

Whenever there is a 2" hitch available for a particular vehicle, I always recommend going with that because it provides you with a greater number of compatible accessories that can be carried. On top of being stronger and typically rated for higher tongue weight capacities, it's also a good idea to have a 2" hitch if you decide to get a different rack in the future, or want to carry a cargo tray or something else.
For these reasons, I recommend going with a 2" receiver like the Draw-Tite # 75547, which will fit your Kuat Transfer 2 # KU74FR bike rack. While you're always going to be limited by the lowest rated components on a towing setup (in this case- the limits of the vehicle), the Draw-Tite has been tested for up to 675-lbs of tongue weight-which exceeds the capacity of your vehicle and will provide a strong and durable hitch for carrying even the heaviest bikes. With this higher capacity, it's going to be a little bit stronger than the Curt # 13555 and will provide you with a great solution for carrying your two bikes wherever you need to go.
I've attached an installation video of the Draw-Tite hitch that you might find helpful when it comes time to install.
