A weight distribution system transfers the load at the rear of the vehicle to all of the axles of the vehicle and the trailer. With the load distributed to all of the axles that will level off the vehicle and improve the performance and safety.

On your Ford F-150 you will want to choose a weight distribution system that will have a tongue weight range that will be able to handle the trailers tongue weight. Tongue weight is 10 to 15 per cent of the gross trailer weight. On your 7,500-lb trailer the tongue weight would be 750 to 1,125 lbs.

The Pro Series RB2 Round Bar Weight Distribution Kit, part # 49570, that you have referenced, is rated at 12,000 lbs. towing weight and 600 to 1,200 lbs. tongue weight range. This tongue weight range would fit your application correctly and would work great on your Ford F-150 towing a 7,500- lb horse trailer. The adjustable shank, # RP54970 that is included with this kit has a 1-1/4 inch drop or a 6 inch rise.

The Pro Series line is an economical line that is produced by Reese, so you will be getting many of the same features in the Pro Series line that you would be getting in the Reese line.

The only other item you will need to complete your weight distribution system is a hitch ball. Depending on the size of the coupler on your trailer you will need either the Curt 2-Inch Hitch Ball, part # A-90, or the Tow Ready 2-5/16-inch Hitch Ball, part # 19286.

You can also add sway control (if needed) at a later date by using the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, # 83660. This sway control kit will attach to the Pro Series RB2 weight distribution kit. I am including links to the installation instructions and a video review on the sway control kit.
