How to Determine Hanger Spacing on Tandem Axle Trailer
Question:
Tandem axle setup 23 1/8 double eye springs how far apart should hangers be
asked by: Sidney
Expert Reply:
That depends on the width of the equalizer used in the suspension setup. Let's say you were using the tandem hanger kit part # APT8 though which has a 7-1/2 inch wide equalizer though. The distance between the hangers would be 28 inches using the # e59SR which measures 23-1/8 inches.
Basically with this spring you want to have 24-1/4 inches between the hangers on the outside of the setup and the bolt hole center of the equalizer side it attaches to using shackles. So roughly you want about 3/4 of an inch extra from where the equalizer bolt hole will be placed and the center of the hanger location.
