Recommended Spare Tire Carrying Solution for Winnebago Travato on Dodge Promaster Chassis

Question:

Myself and literally thousands of RV s built on the Dodge PROMASTER HI-SIDEvan want/need a simple mount to carry a spare tire/wheel. The conversion from a work van to a class B motor home sacrafices the original spare tire space for other motor home equipment. Many owners jerry rig or purchase complex after market mounts. The van conversions to motor homes come equipped with a 2inch hitch ready to receive a like . A large market exists for a simple mount that would just into the existing hitch. Do you make such a unit-or will you? I really need to carry a spare as do thousands like me. Wilco makes some but their Swing Away mount is complex and far beyond my mechanical ability to install. My motor home is a Winnebago Travato, It is typical of a great many conversions built on these Hi-Side vans. Thanks for reading this. Hope you have something. I believe even I could slide an into the existing receiver.

We aren't a manufacturer, but we do carry a spare tire carrier from Roadmaster that sounds exactly like what you're looking for. The # RM-195225 sounds like it would do the trick for you. The carrier will tilt to the side, making loading and unloading the tires that a Class B use much easier than having to dead lift it into place. The carrier also has a pass through receiver, which will allow you to flat tow a vehicle or use a hitch mounted accessory (but not tow a trailer).

If you use the hitch on the back end of the carrier, the capacity will be lowered by 1/3 from what's listed on the hitch.

Does it swing out of the way to be able to open the back door? Travato 59KL owner

@Marie The tire rotates towards the side until the tire touches the ground. In the attached page you can see the motor coach with the tire in the down position.
