How Does Sway Control Component of the Curt # C17500 TruTrack Weight Distribution Work

Question:

Does the sway control work off of the two arms on either side of the A-frame? Will the extra pressure going in a dip at a fuel stop cause too much stress on the parts? And if you would tell me about the problems that has shown up with this device.? I pull a 30 foot cougar with 3 slideouts Thank you

The Curt # C17500 TruTrac gets its sway control from the downward force of the spring bars that are applied to the trailer frame mounted brackets on either side of the A-frame. As long as you negotiate curb cuts like what you'd encounter at a gas station with care, you'll have no issues. When the TruTrack first came out, there were a few issues with the frame brackets bending, but this occurred in instances where a trailer than weighed more than the system was rated for was being towed. The brackets have since been reworked and I'm not aware of any current issues with the system.

For a weight distribution system of this sort, I'll typically recommend an Equal-i-zer system like the # EQ37100ET which is designed for trailers with tongue weights ranging from 600-1000 lbs. Curt makes a fine product, but weight distribution is the primary focus of Equal-i-zer, while weight distribution systems are just an ancillary thing that Curt does. The Equal-i-zer systems offer a lifetime warranty and are manufactured in the USA. Equal-i-zer is our best selling weight distribution system for very good reason.
