Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring For 2020 BMW X5

Question:

What is the recommended trailer hitch reciver for the BMW X5 2020? I need the wiring as well. How is the installation of the hitch does it require trimming?

I recommend Draw-Tite Max-Frame class III 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76288 for the 2020 BMW X5 because it is a concealed cross tube design for a nice discreet OEM look. The installation of the Draw-Tite hitch does require some fascia trimming and temporary removal of the bumper fascia because of it's installation location however once it's installed the only portion of the hitch that is visible is the receiver. The fascia requires a 3.75" X 4.0" cut out. I have attached a photo for your reference.

The best option for wiring is the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 119250KIT for the BMW because it clamps onto your existing wiring instead of splicing in. There is not a plug and play option available at this time. The sensors of the harness are designed for zero contact with the factory wiring, they read the current that travels through the wire they are clamped to. The other options all require splicing.
