Does Sidewinder Move Weight of Trailer Pin Weight Behind Rear Axle

Question:

Hi I have a 2008 Dodge ram 1500 with a short bed. I like the idea of the sidewinder but my concern is doesnt that move the pin weight farther back? Due to the size ratio between truck and trailer wouldnt that also be a concern for sway with the high profile of the camper, pivot point, and axle placements? Just trying to compile all the information im getting to the best answer. Thanks

While the Sidewinders like the part # RP34FR do move the pivot point back 22-1/2 inches when towing due to pivoting arm the weight is still centered in the fifth wheel hitch jaw. Also the arm of the Sidewinder extends out the same distance as a standard pin box so the pin weight wouldn't change either.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
