Recommended Pin Box to Use with B&W OEM Companion 5th Wheel on Ford F-350

Question:

We are getting ready to purchase a fifth wheel in the spring. Based on my truck, Ford F350 Platnium 4WD DRW, I have decided that the B and W 3300 Companion is the best choice since I have the factory installed puck system on it. The fifth wheels were are looking at narrowed down to three range in size from 16.5k to 18k, and 40foot 9inch - 43foot 6. Which pin box do you feel would be the best companion for the 3300.

The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3300 is an excellent choice for your Ford F-350 and is the exact hitch I would have recommended. For an upgraded pin box that will work really nicely with this hitch I recommend a cushioned option, specifically the Trailair Flex Air model like # LC369535, as long as you have the 8 foot bed on your F-350. This unit features an internal air bag that absorbs road shock and will perfectly compliment the superior jaw system of the B&W Companion to create a really smooth, quiet ride during travel.

Now if your F-350 has the shorter 6-3/4 foot bed I recommend going with a Sidewinder option like the Reese 5th Airborne # RP34FR. This is going to move the pivot point an extra 22" toward the rear of the truck so you don't have to worry about cab clearance during sharp turns

Just keep in mind that when picking out a new pin box you will need to first determine the factory/existing model on the 5th wheel trailer you end up purchasing. Since the upgraded units are designed to replace specific models, this is to ensure the new unit will line up correctly to the factory wing brackets on the trailer. The above option is designed to replace the Lippert 1621 pin box.
