Which Tires Should Snow Chains Be Used on for 2017 Subaru Outback

Question:

I have a 2017 Subaru Outback 3.6r with tires 225/60-18. Colorado has new laws requiring tire chains in some situations and I found some on your site that should work. Do I need 2 chains for the front wheels or 4?

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2017 Subaru Outback and it does say that traction devices should only be used on the front wheels, so you will just need one set of chains (which will include two chains for two tires). It also says that only Class S traction devices should be used, which simply refers to a chain's ability to work with wheel wells that don't have a lot of clearance available.

It sounds like you may have already picked out a set of chains but I highly recommend the Titan Chain Alloy # TC1555 for your Outback's 225/60-18 size tires. These Class S rated chains feature a really nice color-coded system that allows for a quick installation (see attached image) and the integrated tensioners help to create a snug fit. I have installed these particular chains in the past and can speak to their ease of use and durability.

I have attached an installation video below that you can also check out.
