How to Secure the Thule T2 Pro XT in Your Receiver So It Doesnt Wobble.

Question:

I installed the Thule T2 Pro XT to the hitch of my car but put the hitch lock in the locked position before I got the hitch tightened down and now the bike rack is wobbly. Is there a way to fix this problem because I am sure this problem has happened to other people. I just don’t understand why Thule does such a lousy job putting instructions together a written explanation as well as the diagram would have prevented this problem.

You'll just need to unlock the knob on the Thule T2 Pro XT # TH83JV and then continue tightening it down until it is snug, wobbling it along the way to make sure that it is secure in the hitch receiver. If you fast forward through the attached video until about the 2:40 mark, this explains in detail how to install this rack on your hitch and how to secure the anti-wobble knob to make sure that there isn't any more of the wobbling that you're experiencing.

You'll need to unlock the knob first, using the included key in order to allow for it to turn to tighten or release.

Hi l have the thule T2 fold out bike rack. I have the 50mm towball setup. When l sit the rack down on the tow ball and pull the handle down and then lock it the rack still swivels. Instructions say the pressure should be at 47kg. How do you work out the 47kg. Cheers Mike

I am having trouble locking the lock on this knob. The key just won’t turn from the unlocked to locked position. Any tips? Thanks!

There could be some debris trapped inside the mechanism. Try spraying some WD-40 inside the lock, letting it sit for a bit, and then using the key again. You may need to wiggle it a bit as you turn to get the mechanism to release. Let me know if this doesn't help.

@ChrisR I just used this rack tge first time today. Great stability, but when I went to unlock the know so that I could remove it from the car, the lock came completely out!! Anyways, it went back in but that makes me concerned that it could happen again and not easily pop back in. Any ideas?

We can file that in the "that shouldn't happen folder". Liz, the way you describe this makes me think that the lock core was not fully seated. Once a core is put in place it can not be removed without a lock removal key. Make sure you are using the "cut" keys to lock and unlock the rack/knob. Only use the "uncut" key to remove the cores if you are going to replace them in the future. If they core does come out again I would be 99% positive it is faulty and needs to be replaced. I'll be here if you have any more questions.
