Air Compressor for Use With Dual Axle Trailer and 2 Sets of Air Bags 4 Bags Total

Question:

I am wondering what you might recommend for an on board air compressor for a longer trailer that would have 4 air bags. The trailer length is approximately 30-35 feet I believe each axle’s bags would carry about 10-12k air bags? The truck is a 17 3500 dually with diesel. Overall what is the most cost effective option?

I recommend using the Air Command II Xtreme Duty Compressor with Analog Gauge, Air Tank, and 25' Hose - Dual Path # F2549. This system will allow you to set everything up so you can run the each one of the dual paths to a side of the trailer; this allows you to control the air to each side independently and allows you to still have the side to side differences in air pressure for each set of bags. This kit comes with a 2 gallon air tank, but I would recommend upgrading to the # F9242 which is a 5 gallon tank and will allow you to store more than enough air to adjust your bags and still have some in reserve.

Because of the size of your system and air bags, you may find that you need to add a second compressor to the mix in order to properly fill airbags of this size. You can add a 2nd Firestone Xtreme-Duty Air Compressor # F9287 to this and provide independent filling of each air bag for the maximum customization and ride stability.
