Should Front Hitch on 2019 Ram 2500 Bend When Attaching 2 Bike Rack

Question:

Looking for the right front hitch for my 2019 Ram 2500. Plan on using it for my bike rack. Maybe other things down the line but who knows. I have a buddy who said he had one a while back that BENT! when he added a loaded bike rack and he couldn't use it anymore after. I didn't really believe him but he swears on it. Is there any strength issue with a front mount hitch - theyre not made any different than a regular rear hitch are they? Should it have bent like that?

A front hitch absolutely shouldn't bend when supporting a 2-bike rack or any other accessory, assuming it's total weight falls below the hitch's capacity. It's possible your friend had some heavy bikes and unknowingly exceed the hitch's weight capacity, but this definitely isn't normal and there isn't any difference in terms of the construction/strength of an equally rated front and rear trailer hitch.

With all this in mind, I highly recommend the Curt Front Mount Hitch # C31089 for your 2019 Ram 2500. This custom hitch features a robust 500 pound vertical load limit and a line pull rating of 9,000 pounds. It will line up to existing holes in the truck's frame rails for a simple bolt-on (no-drill) installation and will protrude from the lower fascia to maintain ground clearance (see attached image).

I have included the full install manual below that you can also look through.
