Which Remote Can I Use with my Dutton-Lainson Strong Arm TW9000 Winch?

Question:

Dutton-Lainson TW9000 is the winch I have. Will this remote work on it?

Yes. I checked with Dutton-Lainson and the # DL24054 is the correct remote to work with your TW9000 # DL25215 since it has the relay built into the remote wiring. When installing this remote, the switch on the box becomes inoperable so you will only be able to control the winch using the remote.

How does this remote and winch mate, because I bought one based on this recommendation and can't figure out how they connect together? I have a TW9000 winch and bought the 24054 remote to go with it.

@JamieP The Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Winch # DL25215 has a cover just under the control lever. This should be where the black plug from the Remote Hand-Held Switch # DL24054 plugs into the winch. Just be sure the wire labeled "top" is on top when you connect the plug. Here is a link to the installation process as done by Dutton-Lainson - https://youtu.be/oIE5YpWNps4

@JonG The TW9000 isn't a Strong Arm model and the cover you are referring to is not removable without cutting a hole in the cover.

@JamieP I reached out to my contact at Dutton-Lainson and they shot me the instructions for this installation. I'll send the PDF to you in a separate email, but the long and short of it is that you will need remove the cover from your winch and you'll need to hardwire the wires on that black plug to the motor on the winch. So the conversion will work, but it isn't plug and play like I initially thought.
