Is There a Way to Use Electric Brake Controller with Hydraulic Trailer Brakes
Question:
Hello, I have an F350 with an electric brake controller already installed. I recently picked up a military trailer M105a2 that has drum brakes that are hydraulic. Is there a way that I can tie the two systems together?

If the electric brake controller installed in your F-350 is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes, then you can tie the two systems together by installing an electric over hydraulic actuator on the trailer.
Chances are your military trailer doesn't have a standard 7-way trailer connector, so I recommend the HydraStar # HS381-9065 because it includes a 7-way trailer harness as well as a breakaway kit, also required to complete the conversion. A junction box and all ring terminals and butt connectors are also included so you'll have everything you need. From my research, I found that your M105A2 military trailer is a 1-1/2 ton capacity trailer. The 1,000 psi actuator in this kit, is designed for single and tandem axle trailers up to 7,000 lbs, so it will work perfectly for you.
Please note that if you have a 2007-2008 F-350 with an OEM factory-installed brake controller, you need an additional adapter module, part # HBA-CAM, to make it compatible with the Hydrastar actuator.
