Is Thule T2 Pro or Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack Better for Resisting Rust

Question:

I have the cheaper Thule and it is starting to rust. I am interested in this rack but concerned about the paint lasting. Trying to decide between this and the kuat at $689. I like the tilting feature location at the front of this rack but don’t want to spend money on a rack that won’t last. Thank you.

The Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 Bike Platform Rack # TH83JV you referenced is an excellent carrier that does feature a powder coat finish to help with corrosion resistance, but if this is one of your main concerns the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Rack # NV22G that you also mentioned is the better option.

A powder coat finish will try its best to fight off corrosion for as long as it can but it's eventually going to start coming off, even if its a few years down the line. The Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack though features an aluminum construction, which is completely corrosion resistant so it's not something that will ever be an issue.

Otherwise these two racks are pretty similar in design. Both are absolutely top-of-the-line options, can handle two bikes that weigh up to 60 pounds each, secure the bikes by their wheels without any frame contact, and can tilt away from the vehicle for easy rear cargo access. Like the Thule T2 Pro, the Kuat NV 2.0 does also feature a front-mounted lever for this purpose for really convenient operation.

I have attached an in-depth video demonstration on the NV that you can check out as well.
